VOLUNTEER WITH US
Our volunteers make a world of difference and are central to the work we do. Based in Melbourne? Volunteer at our national headquarters and help out in areas like IT, marketing, fundraising, communications, data management and customer service.
If Melbourne isn't home, or you'd rather volunteer out of the office, join a Friends of Plan Group – there are groups in Sydney, Adelaide and Perth – or start your own. Friends of Plan fundraise for us through events like film nights or market stalls.
Some volunteer roles may require specific skills, but generally all we need is your passion and a desire to make a difference.
If you're interested in volunteering with us, please contact us and send an expression of interest, outlining what area you'd like to volunteer in.
CAN I VOLUNTEER OVERSEAS WITH PLAN INTERNATIONAL AUSTRALIA?
We don't offer overseas volunteering opportunities – we prefer to recruit local volunteers from within the country to develop and sustain local skills and experience. If you're interested in volunteering overseas see the Australian Government's Australian Volunteers for International Development program.
WHAT SKILLS OR EXPERIENCE DO I NEED?
Some volunteer roles may require specific skills but most only require enthusiasm and a positive attitude! We support all office volunteers with on-the-job training.
WHO CAN VOLUNTEER?
Anyone! However you must be eligible to work in Australia according to the Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs guidelines. If you're from overseas you need a Visa that allows you to volunteer – find out more at the Department of Immigration and Citizenship.
All our volunteers must complete a Police Reference Check and sign our Child Protection Policy and Working with Children Code of Conduct.
WHEN CAN I VOLUNTEER?
Volunteers generally contribute one to two days per week but we can accommodate whatever time you can give; short-term commitments and annual corporate volunteering days are OK too. Volunteers work with us during business hours (8.30am–5.00pm, Monday to Friday), but sometimes work after hours or on weekends when helping with events.
WHAT OPPORTUNITIES ARE ON OFFER?
Most volunteers help us with administrative tasks but we also have roles where you can use your skills in international development, finance, marketing or communications. Or, you may have a particular skill that may be of great help to us – make sure to join our volunteer register so we can find out more about your skills and experience.
