One of three members of the International Programs Team supporting Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH) projects, Tom Rankin’s role includes concept development, project design, implementation and management of discrete WASH projects for Plan International Australia. Key to this is the provision of technical and project management support to Plan International Country Offices and implementing partners. Tom is currently working to support WASH projects in the Region of East & Southern Africa (Malawi, Zimbabwe, Uganda) and has recently started a partnership with Live & Learn - Solomon Islands to implement a rural WASH project, expanding Plan International Australia’s WASH reach into the Pacific.
Tom has a Bachelor's Degree of Engineering & Commerce and a Certificate IV in Project Management. Tom spent an initial five years working within the Australian domestic engineering industry for consultants and operators before pursuing a career in International Development. Over the last five years Tom has worked in development, spending significant time leading field implementation of WASH interventions, most notably in the Solomon Islands (Solomon Islands Rural Water Supply & Sanitation Program) and Timor Leste (UNICEF) before joining Plan International Australia in September 2014.
