Children in Crisis
Our Children in Crisis Fund provides rapid support for children and their families caught in crises. As a Plan Rapid Responder, your regular donation ensures that immediate and lifesaving funds are always available and ready to be deployed when disaster strikes.
From earthquakes, floods and cyclones to conflict and displacement, we aim to meet the needs of children and their families as soon as possible, usually within 24 hours. Your support will enable us to provide nutritious food, clean water, safe places for children to play and learn, and kits that include the essentials like nappies, sanitary pads and soap.

An emergency response in action

In Egypt, the Children in Crisis fund has been used to support Sudanese families who have fled violence and conflict in Sudan. Following a rapid analysis to determine the kind of support parents, children and women needed, Plan Egypt were able to distribute cash, food, hygiene kits and dignity kits for menstruation and conducted awareness sessions on child and family protection for refugees arriving from Sudan at their first point of arrival from across the border.

As refugees started moving to different parts of Egypt and as the weather started getting colder, Plan undertook distribution of 15,00 blankets and 1,000 dignity kits (during November and December 2023).

Recognizing the need to support refugee children attending school, Plan provided 1,053 school bags, 175 dignity kits, and 327 breakfasts and transportation allowances to 372 refugees from October 1, 2023, to February 29, 2024.

When you sign up to be a Rapid Responder, you become part of a critical community that provides urgent and lifesaving support to children and their families when they need it most.
This could mean immediate access to cash transfers and food supplies, allowing families to support themselves through displacement. It could be the comfort and protection of shelter to support families who have lost everything, or safe spaces for education and play.
If you made one-off cash gifts throughout the year, you will have received a tax receipt at the time of the gift.
