Sophie Shugg provides Child Rights & Protection technical support across Plan International Australia’s program portfolio. Sophie also manages PIA's Global Digital Birth Registration portfolio, with current programs in Pakistan, Uganda and Indonesia. She is a member of Plan International’s Child Protection in Emergency (CPiE) global team, supporting counties responding to emergencies through rapid deployments and the development of global CPiE resources.
Sophie has a Master's Degree of International Development. Formally a social worker in Australia, Sophie has spent the last nine years working in Development, Emergency and Protracted Emergency contexts. Sophie has worked in Nepal, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Thailand, Indonesia, Uganda, Papua New Guinea, and the Solomon Islands, as a Child Protection and Child Rights specialist with UNICEF, UNHCR WFP, Save the Children, and a number of local organisations. She joined Plan International Australia in 2014.
