Education Cannot Wait

Help push Ministers Penny Wong and Pat Conroy to protect the right of every child to an education.

Take Action

222 million children are missing out on an education because of armed conflicts, forced displacement, climate-induced disasters and protracted crises.

Education Cannot Wait (ECW) is the United Nations global fund for education in emergencies and protracted crises. They support and protect every child’s right to access an education.

This fund kickstarted its replenishment in February 2023.

Will you ring the offices of Ministers Wong and Conroy to ask them to support every child’s right to an education?

Why must our government act now?

The Education Cannot Wait fund requires urgent additional contributions from all governments to reach the 222 million children left furthest behind in emergencies and protracted crises.

Now is the time for Penny Wong and Pat Conroy to commit $24 million over three years to do our part to help ECW ensure these children can access safe, inclusive quality education.

Millions of children around the world await our collective action. From inside makeshift refugee settlements, damaged walls of classrooms and communities torn apart by war, these 222 million children are desperately holding on to the hope that education will allow them to realize their dreams.

Education is a fundamental right, yet in times of conflict and disaster it is often significantly disrupted, denying millions of children the opportunity to have a quality, safe education.

The report highlights the impact of emergencies and protracted crises on children and young people’s education, with a focus on the Pacific.
