Volunteer for our Impact and Influence Committee

Plan International Australia are looking for three volunteers to join our Impact and Influence Committee.

Join one of the oldest and largest children’s development and humanitarian organisations with a strong vision for the future. Be part of a powerful global movement championing children’s rights and gender equality.

Plan International Australia is a member of a global federation and is a secular and independent development and humanitarian organisation. As one of the oldest, largest and most experienced organisations in our field we know that there is nowhere in the world where girls are treated as equals. We work alongside children, young people, supporters and partners to tackle the root causes of the injustices facing girls and the most marginalised children.

About the roles

The role of the Impact and Influence Committee (IIC) is to monitor and advise our Board on strategies to enhance the organisation’s impact and influence for children. This encompasses Plan’s development and humanitarian programs, advocacy, policy, research, youth engagement, thought leadership and government relations.

We are looking for three candidates to join our IIC and contribute to our strategy and vision. We are very interested in candidates who bring perspectives and/or lived experience in humanitarian practice, and the South Pacific region, and are passionate about bringing your experience into our discussions and decisions.

We are also encouraging applications from young persons who bring experience of public campaigning or community organising with young people, and the confidence and passion to bring your perspectives into the IIC. An appreciation of dynamics of international aid agencies and national/local civil society actors and engagement would also be very beneficial.

As additional members on the IIC, you will participate in five meetings per year, two of which are one-day sessions. Meeting participation can be on-line although in-person participation in Melbourne would be preferred for the two one-day sessions. The role is voluntary and unpaid, however expenses for participation are covered. Additional members are appointed for a period of two years, with the option of extension upon review.

How to apply

Plan International Australia is committed to an inclusive workplace culture that embraces and celebrates equality and diversity. We welcome applications from a variety of backgrounds and personal attributes because we believe diverse opinions, mindsets, backgrounds and lived experiences will enrich our work with communities and partners across the globe. We encourage people from different backgrounds to apply, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and those living in South Pacific countries.

Send your CV and a letter of indication as to why you are interested and why you are a good person for this voluntary role to [email protected] using the subject line: IIC Member application. Please use this email for requests for information.
