Join one of the oldest and largest children’s development and humanitarian organisations with a strong vision for the future.
Be part of a powerful global movement championing children’s rights and gender equality.
Plan International Australia is a member of a global federation and is a secular and independent development and humanitarian organisation. As one of the oldest, largest and most experienced organisations in our field we know that there is nowhere in the world where girls are treated as equals. We work alongside children, young people, supporters and partners to tackle the root causes of the injustices facing girls and the most marginalised children.
About the role
The role of the Impact and Influence Committee (IIC) is to monitor and advise the PIA Board on matters to do with the organisation’s impact and influence for children that are core to its vision and mission. The IIC takes a broad definition of program and influence to encompass development and humanitarian action, advocacy, policy, research, youth engagement, thought leadership and government relations.
We have two positions available on the IIC. We have need of a candidate who has a deep understanding or lived experience in the humanitarian sector and practice, particularly a strong understanding of gender dynamics in the humanitarian sector as well as an appreciation of the trends and shifts in sector.
The other desirable person we are looking for has a deep understanding of lived experience in the South Pacific region with a strong understanding of gender dynamics in the Pacific. An appreciation of dynamics of international aid agencies and national/local civil society actors and engagement would also be very beneficial.
You would need to bring a critical perspective to the IIC of the INGO and sector practice and generate a sense of options or alternatives to achieving strategic objectives and outcomes. Your knowledge and understanding of key concepts and trends will be highly appreciated by IIC members.
As additional members on the IIC, you will be required to attend five meetings per year, two of which are one-day sessions. Meeting participation can be on-line although in-person participation in Melbourne would be preferred for the two one-day. The role is voluntary and unpaid, however expenses for participation are covered.
Additional members are appointed for a period of two years, with the option of extension upon review.
