“Young people like us are rarely invited to have their voice heard on things that matter. We are described as having potential, as though our power to bring about change lies dormant.”

Plan International Australia is addressing this sentiment and is inviting two young people age 18-30 to be advisory members  to our board; one as a Program Advisory Committee Member and one as Marketing and Fundraising Committee Member. Initially these roles are offered on a 12 month basis.

Plan International was founded over 80 years ago with a mission to promote and protect the rights of children. We strive for a just world that advances children’s rights and equality for girls.

Today, we are a global organisation that is active in over 70 countries. Over the next 5 years our ambition is to transform the lives of 100 million girls. We work with communities, partnerships, both in Australia and internationally, and our supporters to achieve our goals.

The Program Advisory Committee Member will be required to advise on matters to do with Plan’s impact and influence for children. The PAC takes a broad definition of program to encompass development and humanitarian action, advocacy, policy, youth engagement and public campaigning. We are particularly interested to hear from applicants with experience in campaigning and community organising.

The Marketing and Fundraising Committee Member will be required to advise on matters to do with marketing, branding and fundraising. The MFC concerns itself with the strategies, plans and reporting in regard to Plan’s annual and multiyear targets for revenue, relationships and brand engagement. We would like to hear from applicants with experience designing or implementing marketing and communications campaigns.
