We wanted to try something new but we needed your help.
We thought Give Equal – Plan International’s first community fundraising campaign aimed squarely at supporting girls around the world – was a good idea but knew it would only work with the support of people like you, who care about equality and justice. And support us you did!
October is always a big month for us at Plan International. October 11 is International Day of the Girl, a day when we celebrate the power and potential of girls, and envision what a truly equal world could look like. This day was also the perfect time to begin our exciting new Give Equal campaign, giving us all an opportunity to reflect on what we can each do in our own lives to progress the rights of girls around the world. By giving equal to the amount you spent on a nicety in one month, you contributed to making a major difference in the life of a girl.
Thank you for being a part of this:
You put your money where your heart is
TOGETHER WE RAISED TENS OF THOUSANDS FOR GIRLS’ RIGHTS
You thought about what you wanted to give equal to and signed up in your hundreds.
Your donation will go to confronting the unique challenges and barriers girls face and unlocking the potential they hold when they are truly heard and included. We hope you enjoyed taking part in Give Equal this year and will join us again in 2020!
You made some noise and inspired others to get involved, by sharing what you gave equal to
From yoga classes, to daily coffees, to streaming services, you shared your Give Equal experience on social media, inspiring others to choose a nicety that brings them joy, and pay it forward to girls!
You helped us take Give Equal to the streets!
Our friends at AkzoNobel have been supporting Plan International for 25 years, and to celebrate the partnership, they commissioned young artist Daiana Ingleton to turn our Give Equal campaign into art.
If you’ve passed by La Trobe Street in Melbourne’s CBD lately, you might have spotted the beautiful mural Daiana created for us. We think she has perfectly captured the strength and power of girls, when supported with education, equal rights and a safe environment.
In Daiana’s words:
“I’m so excited to have this opportunity to paint something so meaningful. Internal strength and girls’ right to independence are really important to me. The mural is a real achievement.”
Together with one of our wonderful long-term supporters you doubled your impact!
Mrs. Kay Valder OAM has supported Plan International for over 24 years and she pledged to Give Equal to the donations received during the last weekend of October, up to $2000!
Thanks to your combined efforts, we managed to raise a total of $5,181.96 in just one weekend!
You did something positive for yourself while participating in Give Equal
We gave you the opportunity to consider the good you can do by pledging the amount that you normally spend on a nicety that makes you feel good. So now it feels double as good!
