Mary Kimani is a Senior Program Manager for Education and Early Childhood Development (ECCD) working within the International Programs team. In her role she is a leader in setting the strategic direction of the ECCD portfolio, identifying and pursuing funding opportunities, managing a diverse range of program stakeholders and providing ongoing technical support at strategic points during the project cycle. Mary is responsible for managing the development and growth of the ECCD team, maintain and strengthening stakeholder management in Australia and internationally, working across teams within Plan International Australia to advise on program quality and growth, and supporting Country Offices in program design, bid development and technical support.
Mary has a PhD in Early Childhood Education and comes to us with over twenty years' experience in preschool, primary, secondary and higher education programing across Africa and in Australia. She has worked with various NGOs, including UNICEF, the World Bank and DFAT, and has most recently been with the Australian Council of Education Research (ACER) as a senior researcher and consultant. She is widely published and has been a lecturer at Daystar University in Nairobi. Among her recent achievements is the development of a teaching and learning best practice for refugee students from sub-Saharan Africa.
