The CEO and management of Plan Australia report to a Board made up of volunteers who are the directors of the company. These directors are accountable to ASIC and the Australian law in the same way as all company directors. Board members are also accountable and ensure the organisation is accountable to its full range of stakeholders. The Board typically meet 5 times per year to review strategy and progress against plans.

Kathryn Anne Skipper AM (Chair)

Board member since July 2003. Elected Chair November 2006.

Anne is an experienced business woman currently consulting in corporate governance. A diverse portfolio working in government, private sector and community based organisations in public health, media, woman's affairs, leadership, children and young people and more recently corporate governance. Presenter for the Australian Institute of Company Directors and currently on the following boards: Deputy Chair for the South Australian Tourism Commission Board; Director, Savings & Loans Credit Union; Chair, Royal District Nursing Service; Council Member, and Director Aboriginal Foundation SA; Director Qantas Foundation.


Philip L Endersbee (Deputy Chair)

Board member since October 2003.

 Brian Babington

Board Member since March 2010
Member of the Program Advisory Committee

 

Brian Babington is the CEO of Families Australia, a peak, national, independent, not-for-profit organisation which advocates policies to enhance the wellbeing of families and children. Brian is also the convenor of the Coalition of Organisations Committed to the Safety and Wellbeing of Australia’s Children. In the course of his career, he has: managed the Australian Government’s development assistance program in Burma; represented Australia at the UN on development and environmental issues; and held leadership positions in numerous international, national and local welfare, community and professional organisations.


Tim Beresford

Board Member since July 2003.
Member of the Fundraising Committee.

 

Tim advises corporate and government clients on strategic, organisational and operational issues. Prior to his current role as a senior advisor, Tim spent the last 6 years at Westpac Banking Corporation holding a number of roles including General Manager Pacific Bank, State General Manager South Australia and Northern Territory Retail Bank and, Head of Retail Strategy.  Prior to Westpac, Tim worked for McKinsey & Co primarily serving financial services clients in both the London and Sydney offices.


Julie Hamblin


BA LLB(Hons) LLM (McGill)
Partner of HWL Ebsworth Lawyers. 

 

Julie has worked for more than 20 years in the fields of health law, bioethics and public health.  In her legal practice, she advises hospitals, health professionals and other health providers on a broad range of legal and policy issues, including clinical risk, medical negligence, privacy, medical research, health ethics and public health policy.  She also has extensive experience in international development work, particularly in relation to HIV/AIDS, having previously worked with the United Nations Development Programme and as a consultant to other UN and non-governmental bodies in more than 20 countries in Asia, the Pacific, Africa and Eastern Europe.  She has served on many Government bodies and advisory boards, including the Australian National Council on HIV/AIDS and Related Diseases, the Attorney-General's International Pro Bono Advisory Group, Central Sydney Area Health Service and the National Institute of Complementary Medicine.  She is a director of Autism Spectrum Australia


Claire Hatton

Board member since July 2008.
Chair of the Fundraising Committee.

 

Claire Hatton is Google's Head of Travel for Australia/New Zealand. Claire has over 15 years experience in the travel industry having worked in the airline industry, online travel, distribution and travel wholesaling in Australia and the Asia Pacific region. She has extensive digital expertise and is a regular speaker on Online Marketing in the Asia Pacific region.


Jeremy Ingall

Board Member since July 2005.

Jeremy has over 20 years experience in investment banking and investment management in Australia and the United States. Jeremy is Executive Chairman of investment banking and investment management firm Andover Group and Board member of MEARS Technologies (Boston) Music Icon (New York) and 3D Clinic (Sydney).


Thomas Kane

Board member since April 2004.

Thomas is Managing director and founder, The Grey Group Pty Ltd and Chartered Member, Australian Human Resources Institute. Thomas has an extensive career in the resources and manufacturing sectors in Australia and overseas. Prior to establishing The Grey Group, Thomas was CEO of an industry association and managing partner of a consulting practice. Thomas previously sat on the boards of a major superannuation fund, a manufacturing business and a property development company.


Philippa Quinn 

Board Member since 2010
National Network News Editor ABC TV News. 

 

 

A journalist for 18 years, Philippa has extensive experience in news and current affairs as well as public relations both in Australia and abroad. She has worked for the past ten years at the ABC and has worked on their flagship programs Australian Story and the 7.30 Report.


Neil Thompson


Board Member since February 2007.

Neil is Director, Head of Loyalty Practice with Seabury Aviation & Aerospace. Previously Group General Manager Customer Relationship Marketing, Qantas Airways. Twenty years experience in the aviation and tourism industry. Extensive experience in business development, in Asia.  Board Member of Plan International Hong Kong. Board Member and Secretary of the Trust for Indigenous Culture & Health (TICAH USA).
