Ambassadors

In October 2008 Jamie travelled to India to film a television special for Plan.

Jamie Durie

Jamie has been a Plan Ambassador since 2002 and sponsors three children  through Plan (Sagarika, 16, from Sri Lanka; Aramazan, 11, from Uganda; and Ainiyatul, 10, from Indonesia).

Jamie has travelled to Sri Lanka, Uganda and India to experience first hand Plan’s child centred community development work and to meet his sponsored children. While in Uganda, Jamie also visited Plan’s HIV/AIDS programs in Uganda to film a documentary, Jamie's Journey - Hope for Uganda's Children which was screened on Channel 9.

I went to Uganda to find out how I could support these amazing people. I am doing that in the best way I know how – to communicate their story to as many people as possible, in the hope we can provide more support through child sponsorship or regular donations.

And most recently in October 2008 Jamie travelled to India to film a television special: Jamie's Journey with the Children of India. It features a collection of personal stories from Plan's early childhood care and development projects in Delhi's slums and construction sites and in desert villages in Rajasthan.

"I expected to be overwhelmed by the poverty and despair that so many of us have experienced on our travels. But what I found, turned out to be a very different story…and took me on one of the most positive, hopeful journeys I’ve ever been on."
