Plan is working at the grassroots level in Senegal to empower communities to bring real and lasting change, so that children have the opportunity to reach their full potential.
Plan has been operating in Senegal since 1982 and currently has programs in more than 600 affiliated communities which aim to address the following issues affecting children:

Plan Senegal works to promote integrated early childhood development, improve educational facilities and infrastructure and supports educational awareness campaigns to improve attendance and demand for education. Plan also supports alternative educational systems more suited to different regional areas, such as Koranic and Arabic schools.
Plan Senegal’s programs relating to health and nutrition include increasing vaccination rates among infants and pregnant women, monitoring child growth, improving maternal health, increasing awareness education and family planning, supporting health programs for infectious diseases, increasing water access, promotion of hygiene and improved housing and community environments.
To improve household economic security, Plan Senegal helps provide access for women to credit and financial services, works to improve agricultural productivity and efficiency, promotes job and employment diversification opportunities in communities and reduces domestic workload for women by providing technology to assist with household chores.
