Plan is working at the grassroots level in Indonesia to help communities make real and lasting change, so that their children have the opportunity to reach their full potential.
Plan began working in Indonesia in 1969 and has programs in six provinces which aim to address the following issues affecting children:
Plan's programs and strategies to address these issues include:
Plan Indonesia works to access health services through revitalisation of community health posts and an effective school health program, including reproductive health, HIV and AIDS awareness programs for adolescents.
Plan Indonesia runs a school improvement program, works to strengthen and scale up its home and centre based early childhood and care development programs.
Poverty is a significant problem in Indonesia, with an estimated 52% of Indonesians living on less than US$2 a day. Plan Indonesia helps families increase and manage their resources and focuses on food and nutrition security, income generation, sustained economic growth and small business development.
Plan Indonesia promotes universal birth registration of Indonesia's more than 76 million children and child participation in decision-making and works with groups of children such as children in conflict with the law, street children and sexually exploited children.
Plan Indonesia has a child-focused disaster risk reduction program which continues its disaster response and rehabilitation programs in the tsunami affected areas of Aceh and in the earthquake affected area of Yogyakarta.
