The aim of the event is to raise awareness in the Australian community about HIV/AIDS issues and Plan’s important work in enhancing community response to the needs of people affected by HIV/AIDS in Africa.
The event includes the screening of the 55-minute Plan documentary Don’t Cry When I’m Gone, an exhibition of photos and an opportunity for questions and answers. All are welcome. Entry is free. Phone 13 PLAN or visit www.plan.org.au for details.
Don't Cry When I'm Gone is set in Uganda and depicts how HIV/AIDS has affected the lives of three different families: a 14-year-old girl whose mother and father have both died of AIDS; an 18-year-old man and his younger brother who have also been orphaned; and a single mother living with HIV after contracting the virus from her husband who has since died.
As part of this film screening event, Plan will also show a preview of Jamie’s Journey: Hope for Uganda’s Children featuring Jamie Durie – television personality, Plan Ambassador and Plan child sponsor.

The film screening event will also launch Plan’s annual Christmas Appeal for children in Africa.
Ian Wishart, Plan Australia National Executive Director says: “Every Christmas for the past two years, Plan has asked Australians to make a donation to help reduce the devastating effects of HIV/AIDS on children, their families and communities in Kenya, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe. This Christmas, Plan needs Australia’s help once again”.
Please give to Plan’s Christmas Appeal for reducing community vulnerability to HIV/AIDS in Africa today and help Plan make a difference.
