Currently 1.4 billion people – 25% of the world’s population – live in extreme poverty. This gives us 1.4 billion reasons to take action, and what better time to do this than Anti-poverty week, which takes place from 16 to 22 October?

Plan has joined with the Global Poverty Project to deliver a youth focused version of their '1.4 Billion Reasons' presentation across Australia, which  outlines why poverty exists, how it impacts on children and their communities, and what we can do to overcome it.

How can you get involved?

Take action and book a live presentation of 1.4 Billion Reasons for your school or community group today. The Global Poverty Project delivers presentations all year and you can host your presentation during or outside of anti-poverty week.

Anti-Poverty Week 2011 is a great time to get your community involved the movement to end extreme poverty.

Extreme poverty is a complex issue; but experts around the world know that together, we can end it. That's why the 1.4 Billion Reasons presentation exists. To provide our community with the information, resources and connections we need to lead the next generation to a world free of extreme poverty.
