Goodwill Partner Update: QANTAS

QantasAs a part of their support of the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games, Qantas has become a Goodwill Champion by helping Plan to raise much needed funds for children in India and Sharing the Spirit of the Games.

Qantas was the first sponsor of the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games to be announced in 2003 and is Official Partner and Official Airline of the Games. Qantas has been involved with the Commonwealth and Empire Games for more than 50 years and was a major sponsor of the Games when they were last in Australia, in Brisbane in 1982.

In a unique initiative, Qantas offered their Frequent Flyers the opportunity to experience the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony Dress Rehearsal by donating $29.95 for each ticket ordered. Part of the proceeds of the money raised was then donated to Plan, the official Goodwill Partner of the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games, raising $40 000 for Plan’s priority projects in Commonwealth countries.  The money will go towards the Early Childhood Care and Development project in India, a program that works with the physical, cognitive, social and emotional development of girls and boys from infants to eight years.  It also works to strengthen the capacity of their parents and other caregivers to provide the essential care that children need.

Plan would like to thank Qantas and all of our corporate partners who are involved with the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games. Plan encourages all Australians to   support the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games and the children of our Commonwealth.
