Urgent action needed to make poverty history

Make Poverty History CampaignThis year, Australian and international aid agencies (including Plan), trade unions and celebrities have joined forces to make poverty history. But to make a difference, a real difference, we as a society need to do our bit.

We need to let Prime Minister John Howard know that the time has come to rise to the challenge of 2005. Why 2005? There are important international meetings this year where decisions can be made about funding to fight poverty. Three key areas need urgent and meaningful policy change: fair trade, debt relief and more and better aid.Make Poverty History Campaign

United influence is a powerful force:

  • Sign our online petition to Prime Minister John Howard. We will personally deliver all signatures to the Prime Minister.

  • Attend or organise a White Band Action Day (1 July, 10 September, 10 December).

  • Visit your local politician and encourage them to urge action to fight poverty.
