Dymocks chairman and Plan sponsor, John Forsyth has made a personal donation of $500,000 to Plan to launch Dymocks Rebuilding Schools Tsunami Appeal to rebuild schools in badly affected regions of Aceh in Indonesia.
Mr Forsyth's donation, which aims to build five permanent schools, will be used by Plan to begin work immediately on getting children into interim classrooms, while building starts on the permanent schools.
The Rebuilding Schools appeal will be promoted through all Dymocks stores and aims to multiply this donation to rebuild education in Aceh.
The appeal was launched today by Mr Forsyth with NSW Premier Bob Carr, and Plan's Chair Wendy McCarthy at Dymock's George Street store in Sydney .
Mr Forsyth has sponsored children through Plan Australia for more than 23 years.
Dymocks is a family business - Australian owned for 125 years - with 81 stores across Australia, New Zealand and Hong Kong.
