Dancing with the Stars has returned to Channel Seven for its sixth season on Tuesdays at 7:30pm and Jamie Durie – television presenter, award-winning landscape designer, author and Plan Ambassador - is one of 10 celebrities taking to the dance floor for charity.

Jamie, who has been a Plan Ambassador since 2002 and sponsors three children  through Plan (Sagarika, 16, from Sri Lanka; Aramazan, 11, from Uganda; and Ainiyatul, 10, from Indonesia), has nominated Plan as his charity for the popular ballroom dance show.

Jamie has travelled to Sri Lanka and to Uganda to meet his sponsored children and to experience first hand, Plan’s child centred community development work. While in Uganda, Jamie also featured in the Plan documentary Jamie’s Journey: Hope for Uganda’s Children, which focuses on children affected by HIV/AIDS and how Plan is assisting them.

With dance partner Amanda Garner, Jamie hopes Australia will be wooed by their glitz, glamour and fancy footwook – as a vote for them – is a vote for children, their families and communities in developing countries.

Money raised from Dancing with the Stars will go directly to support Plan's Reducing Community Vulnerability to HIV/AIDS program in Africa. The five-year- program, now in its third year, is also proudly supported by AusAID – the Australian Government’s Agency for International Development.

Plan works in 49 developing countries assisting communities escape poverty by funding programs such as health care, early childhood care, education, water and sanitation, food security and livelihood skills training. As a child centred community development organisation, children are at the heart of everything Plan does.
