The National Multicultural Festival in Canberra involves over 200 community groups, local and national arts groups, diplomatic missions, local businesses and over 200,000 people in activities and events over the three days from Friday 10th to Sunday 12th February.
The Festival celebrates the cultural diversity of the ACT, showcases cultural differences and encourages people to share in and celebrate differences by enjoying arts and music, dancing, laughing and eating together.
Look out for Friends of Plan Canberra who can give you a local perspective on our multicultural world. Friends of Plan Canberra are a group of local people that have been supporting Plan for many years and can talk about their experiences sponsoring children through Plan in communities including: Burkina Faso, Colombia, Guatemala, India, Indonesia, Nepal, Thailand, Uganda and Vietnam.
Many members of the group have been able to visit the children they sponsor and can tell you about the changes they have seen in action in those communities. Each year, in addition to their sponsorship, the group selects a Plan project to support and, if you are interested, you can join Friends of Plan during the year for fun at fundraising events such as dinners, an art and craft show, a film night or maybe even a rock concert.
Friends of Plan Canberra will be at the Festival on Sunday the 12th.
