Plan does not coordinate the placement of volunteers for overseas work in developing countries. Where possible, we recruit volunteers locally from within the country to develop and sustain in-country skills and experience. If you would like to volunteer overseas, we recommend you apply through one of the following volunteer sending agencies.
Australian Volunteers International: Australia's largest international volunteer sending agency with placements in Asia, the Pacific, Africa, the Middle East and Latin America.
AusAID Youth Ambassadors: The Australian Youth Ambassadors for Development program (AYAD) places skilled young Australian volunteers, aged 18-30, on short-term assignments in developing countries throughout Asia and the Pacific.
OzQuest: organises annual, short term volunteer expeditions to Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Nepal and Borneo. OzQuest is a non-profit program of The Duke of Edinburgh's Award Victoria. The expeditions are for 18-30 year olds with a desire to help a developing community. You do not need specific skills to take part. The volunteer projects are arranged with local NGOs, and provide unique opportunities for volunteering and adventure.
Volunteering for International Development from Australia (VIDA): Open to all Australians aged 18 and over, VIDA recruits, prepares and supports volunteers to work with people of other countries in Asia and the Pacific. Its goal is to ensure volunteers contribute to poverty reduction and sustainable development in targeted developing countries as part of Australia's international aid program.
