October 11th is the UN International Day of the Girl
It's time to show our leaders why promoting girls' and young women's leadership, participation and empowerment is key to ensuring a better, more just world.
We're supporting 25 inspiring young female delegates to head to Parliment to promote gender equality through the first ever Girls Leadership Summit.
Stayed tuned and come back soon to visit our new dedicated Because I am a Girl campaign website to learn all about the Girls Leadership Summit, read the Girl Delegate's bios and to vote on the issues that are important to you.
What is the 'Because I am a Girl' Campaign?
Plan’s Because I am a Girl campaign aims to unleash the incredible potential of girls by promoting their rights, transforming futures and creating a better world for all.
Every day, girls are denied their rights. They are taken out of school, forced into marriage and subjected to violence, while their brothers get to learn, play and choose their futures. Not only is this unjust, it’s also a huge waste of potential with serious global consequences.
We know that when you invest in girls, the whole world benefits. If a girl has enough to eat, a safe environment, and an education, she’ll work to raise the standard of living for herself, her family and her community. And in time, she’ll even strengthen the economy of her entire country.
